Child immunisations

Child immunizations are crucial for protecting children from a variety of preventable diseases.

We want to support your and your childā€™s vaccination programme to minimise their risk of illness.

Hepatitis B Vaccine

Given shortly after birth and in a series of doses, this vaccine protects against hepatitis B, a viral infection affecting the liver.

Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis

Protects against diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), and whooping cough (pertussis). The primary series is usually given in early childhood, with booster shots recommended later.

Hib Vaccine

Protects against Haemophilus Influenzae type b, a bacterium that can cause severe infections, including meningitis and pneumonia particularly in young children.

Polio Vaccine

Protects against polio, a highly infectious disease that can lead to paralysis.

RV Vaccine

Guards against rotavirus, a common cause of severe diarrhoea and dehydration in infants and young children.

MMR Vaccine

Provides immunity against measles, mumps, and rubella. Given in two doses.

Meningitis ACWY

This is given at 12 months to
protect against meningitis strains A, C, W and Y.

Meningitis B (Bexsero)

This vaccine protects against meningitis strain B. It is free for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. For the rest of the population this is a private vaccine which we stock in the clinic and would highly recommend parents consider.

CHILD IMMUNISATIONS

We work closely with parents to work to ensure their child receives all recommended vaccines according to the recommended schedule.

Regular check-ups provide an opportunity to discuss vaccination plans and address any concerns.
